General electicity in Guinea

Within the framework of the projects aimed at improving, refurbishing and extending the power grid of the city of Conakry and its suburbs, EDG (Electricité de Guinée) has awarded RMT the contract for the following works:

  • Laying 18 km of buried MV 12/20 KV  3*240 mm² cables in the city centre of Conakry and connecting them to the existing MV substations
  • Building 5 MV/LV substations and pulling 50 km of overhead LV grid cables in the north-east suburb of Conakry. 450 concrete poles and 600 wooden poles are required for the installation of this equipment.

These works supplement the first two refurbishment projects already completed by the subsidiary in 2012/2013 and are part of the PAESE and PREREC projects.


PAESE : Energy Sector Efficiency Improvement Project.

PREREC : Conakry Power Grid Refurbishment and Extension Project: this one consists in carrying out the design, building and installation of 63 MV substations, 305 km of LV grids, 20km of overhead MV grids as well as the manufacture and installation of 2600 concrete poles.
