Upgrading the electricity grid in Guinea Bissau

The PUASEE* project co-ordination unit has awarded RMT the contract to upgrade and extend the medium-voltage and low-voltage electricity grid of the city of Bissau in Guinea-Bissau.

As part of this project, RMT will carry out the following:

  • the refurbishing of the outgoing substation of the EAGB power plant (26 withdrawable cubicles) and 13 MV/LV substations with a view to switching the installations supplied with 6 kV to 10 kV
  • construction of 6 new MV / LV substations.

The work of extending the medium-voltage and low-voltage grids includes the construction of 24 km of underground MV grids, 4.5 km of overhead MV grids and 30 km of overhead LV grids.

This project will take 13 months to complete.
