RMT has been mandated by the National Water Company of Benin (SONEB) to urgently boost the production capacity of the drinking water supply system in the town of Parakou in BENIN.

The work involves replacing the existing electrical and hydraulic equipment at the Okpara water intake plant in order to double its production capacity.
The equipment supplied is broken down as follows:

  • 2 horizontal axis discharge pumps Q=200 m³/hr Head=100 m
  • 2 vertical axis discharge pumps Q=200 m³/hr Head=100 m
  • adapting the existing piping to the new equipment
  • the monitoring & control cabinet of the 4 pumps.

The electrical and hydraulic engineering work is carried out in Kehl, the erection and commissioning work is carried out by the teams from RMT Benin. The maximum duration of the project is 5 months, with a deadline for putting the 2 horizontal pumps into service 2 months after the service order.

To meet the 2-month intermediate deadline, the horizontal pumps were purchased in Ghana from a representative of the German pump manufacturer KSB. The monitoring & control cabinet for the 4 pumps was manufactured in 3 weeks and shipped by air.
